History

When former Watkins man Nick Evasiuk started “Nick’s Truck Service” out of Mayerthorpe, Alberta back in 1939 with his single open-box style truck, he never would have imagined that his little company would grow into a successful family-run business that would span 3 generations.

Nick’s aim was to provide for his family and help his neighbors however he could and he did this by hauling general freight, livestock, and supplies to several surrounding communities. His resourcefulness and willingness to help others was legendary. Many stories have been passed down over the years about Nick’s many adventures on the unpaved and nearly unpassable roads through Alberta’s boreal forests in the 1950s and ’60s. Nick passed on his enthusiasm for the trucking business to his sons, Dave and Rick, who in turn passed it down the line to their kids.

With these deep roots and firm beliefs in the value of great customer service, Whitecourt Transport continued to grow and make valuable contributions that came with the economic development of north and central Alberta. Over the years we have hauled everything from agricultural products, livestock, logs, wood chips, aggregates, construction materials, chemicals, heavy equipment, fuel, and other bulk liquids.

Today, Whitecourt Transport is a diversified equipment contracting and transportation service provider that is primarily specialized in the hauling of bulk wood fibre and in LTL freight services, warehousing, and heavy equipment contracting.
